(Photo by Joe Skipper/Getty Images)After three seasons at his alma mater, the University of Miami, Mark Richt stepped down as the Hurricanes’ coach in December. It doesn’t sound like he’s planning on being back on the sideline. In an interview with ESPN’s Andrea Adelson, Richt said he felt like he retired at the “right time.” He will spend this upcoming season as an analyst with the new ACC network.“There’s no easy time to do it for sure,” Richt said. “Especially when you’re the head coach. That’s the hardest part is how it affected other people. I felt it was the right time for me as a person, and I felt like Miami would be in better hands.”Interestingly, Richt said he did not consider the possibility of stepping down as the season played out. But once it ended, he felt the urge to move on.Now, Richt says it’s “not in his plans” to coach again.“I’m really excited about this ACC Network opportunity,” Richt said. “And I think I can help the fans enjoy the game more and understand the game more, and it allows me to keep staying involved with this game of football. And it also gives me time to see our grandchildren more and our own children. So right now, I’m mostly focused on that.”Richt owns a career 171-64 coaching record at Georgia and Miami. He took the Hurricanes to a 10-3 season in 2017, but the program slumped back to 7-6 last fall.[ 247Sports ]last_img read more

first_imgTHIS HERE IS Quixote, the police horse. While the four-year-old was out at a park in London for training with a Mounted Branch police officer yesterday, he was bitten by a dog.The French bull terrier cross staff’s owner – a 26-year-old woman – now faces a court appearance for her pet’s actions.Scotland Yard has also used the incident to warn other owners about keeping their dogs under control.Detectives today confirmed that she will receive a summons for “allowing her dog to be dangerously out of control in a public place” and for “criminal damage to police property”.Quixote was being ridden towards the entrance of the park when the dog ran towards him. According to the police report, he kept barking at the horse before leaping at it. He the bit his upper front leg, inflicting two puncture wounds. A member of the public intervened, removed the dog from continuing to bite the horse and managed to restrain him before Safer Neighbourhood officers from Greenwich attended to assist.Quixote was treated by a vet back at police stables. The dog was also taken to a vet as he had sustained injuries when the horse tried to stop the attack.Luckily, Quixote is now said to be doing well…and looking great.Making the incident public, PC Katherine Smith said:“Although the vast majority of dog owners do behave responsibly, there is a small minority who still fail to control their dogs. All dogs, especially certain breeds, need to be properly managed so they do not become aggressive and it is the responsibility of owners to keep their dogs under control.“Responsible dog ownership is important for the safety of everybody. If you believe a dog has a tendency to bite, always think about safety,” she concluded.Images: Metropolitan Police ServiceRead: Pope Francis says the internet is a gift from GodMore: Sue Perkins’ loving letter to her dog Pickle will have you in floodsDailyEdge.ie: Adorable pets play dead after being ‘shot’ with finger gunlast_img read more
