It doesn’t sound like he’s planning on being back on the sideline. In an interview with ESPN’s Andrea Adelson, Richt said he felt like he retired at the “right time.” He will spend this upcoming season as an analyst with the new ACC network.“There’s no easy time to do it for sure,” Richt said. “Especially when you’re the head coach. That’s the hardest part is how it affected other people. I felt it was the right time for me as a person, and I felt like Miami would be in better hands.”Interestingly, Richt said he did not consider the possibility of stepping down as the season played out. But once it ended, he felt the urge to move on.Now, Richt says it’s “not in his plans” to coach again.“I’m really excited about this ACC Network opportunity,” Richt said. “And I think I can help the fans enjoy the game more and understand the game more, and it allows me to keep staying involved with this game of football. And it also gives me time to see our grandchildren more and our own children. So right now, I’m mostly focused on that.”Richt owns a career 171-64 coaching record at Georgia and Miami. He took the Hurricanes to a 10-3 season in 2017, but the program slumped back to 7-6 last fall.[ 247Sports ]last_img read more
