I don’t think there has been any problem between me and Mithali. I can speak for myself. You have to speak to her and ask if she has a problem with me,” Harmanpreet told Mumbai Mirror.”When you play at an international level, you are mature enough to not let these things affect you. At the end of the day, what matters is you are playing for your country. A team is like a family where there are troubles and such issues keep cropping up, but they shouldn’t be taken personally,” she added. When asked about what happened in West Indies and in hindsight would the team react differently to the chain of events, Harmanpreet said that the ‘issues should not have been highlighted so much’.”No player is bigger than the team. When a team is doing well, all the members have to think on these lines only. I still feel that the situation should not have come to this but sometimes such things happen. I don’t think the issues should have been highlighted so much. But everyone has their personal views and I won’t comment on that,” Harmanpreet said.SadvertisementHarmanpreet Kaur explained how Ramesh Powar, the Indian coach during the whole fiasco, had instilled a sense of belief in every member of the squad and his contribution in India reaching the semi-final.”Earlier our team was too dependent on senior players. The thinking was that the senior players had to take all the workload. But during the recent ICC T20 World Cup, coach Ramesh Powar told all of us that each and every player in the team is not only equal but equally important. He met all the players individually and gave clear message to them. In the three earlier editions of the T20 World Cup before this one in West Indies, we were not able to reach even the semis. After those chats, the players realised their importance. These one-on-one sessions went a long way in how we performed. But of course, there are areas where we are lagging. Like we are starting tournaments well but are not able to win tournaments. I think we are lacking a bit of mental stability during the knock-out phases. We have to work on this area specifically if we want to win big tournaments,” Harmanpreet said. With Powar no longer in charge and WV Raman in charge, Harmanpreet said she knows thenew coach and is looking forward to working with him.I had met Raman sir at the National Cricket Academy a couple of times. I know he comes with a lot of experience. I have heard from several people about Raman sir’s technical and tactical acumen. I think these things will help the team.Harmanpreet was recently named the captain of the ICC T20I Team of the Year 2018, when asked how it felt, she said she was happy.”I am really happy about it. To be honest, I had never thought about it. I had always wanted the team to do well in the T20 format. We were doing well in the 50-over game but this year we have done well in the T20 format also. This reward is both recognition of how well the team has done and also a motivation for the future,” Harmanpreet said. Also Read | Manipulative, lying, cheat: Mithali Raj’s manager lashes out at Harmanpreet KaurAlso Read | Mithali Raj and Harmanpreet Kaur retained as India captains for tour of New ZealandAlso Read | Meet India women cricket team’s new coach WV Raman: A gutsy, no non-sense cricketerFor sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports. Chinese military tests heavy aerial delivery with unmanned transport aircraft

first_imgBeijing: The Chinese military has tested an unmanned transport plane that successfully delivered cargo at a designated area, making it a future prospect for airdropping cargo through parachutes in real battle conditions, official media here reported on Monday. Jointly held by the National Defence University of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and the state-owned China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, the aerial delivery exercise took place recently in Zhangye, Northwest China’s Gansu Province, China Central Television (CCTV) reported. This is the first time China has conducted a parachuted aerial delivery of cargo weighing more than 500 kilograms on a flight distance of more than 500 kms with an unmanned transport aircraft, CCTV quoted Li Ruixing, the president of the PLA National Defence University’s joint logistics academy as saying. Since transport planes usually do not need to make intense and complicated manoeuvres like fighter jets, even heavier cargo delivery missions could become unmanned if this technology becomes mature, a Chinese military expert told the Global Times. Airdrops often take place within the range of hostile anti-aircraft fire, so being unmanned lowers risk to life, the expert said. The exercise also means that the Chinese military now has the first large unmanned equipment in its logistics arsenal, the CCTV report said, noting that the mission was carried out on a plateau with a complicated terrain. “The exercise met our expected objective. It is very significant for our unmanned logistics chain in future warfare,” said Bi Guangyuan, executive director of the exercise, CCTV reported. Chinese military analysts predicted that more unmanned transport aircraft could join the army’s logistics arsenal for long-range and heavy delivery in the future, state-run Global Times reported. read more
