RSF and a coalition of 102 other organizations demanded that DHS address alarming reports of surveillance activity by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that jeopardizes First Amendment rights and access to legal counsel, and may violate the Privacy Act of 1974. The coalition also requested that DHS cease impermissible targeting, monitoring, and harassment of journalists, activists and lawyers at the border, and disclose the policies, guidelines, and training materials that govern these activities. This conduct undermines the critical role journalists play as government watchdogs, and we eagerly anticipate a meeting with DHS to discuss our concerns as soon as possible.” The United States ranks 48th out of 180 countries in RSF’s 2019 World Press Freedom Index, after dropping three places since last year. to go further Organisation June 7, 2021 Find out more News News Receive email alerts Help by sharing this information News April 28, 2021 Find out more June 3, 2021 Find out more News Follow the news on United States WhatsApp blocks accounts of at least seven Gaza Strip journalistslast_img read more

While the world mourns the unfortunate demise of the legend, India’s cricketing icon Virat Kohli pours his heart out on the mishap, and talks about the lessons he gained from it.Advertisement Image Courtesy: NBC/BCCIWhile Team India is preparing for the 3 match ODI series against New Zealand, captain Virat Kohli spoke in a recent interview today in Hamilton, lamenting the sad incident, and also unveiled his young memories of being a regular follower of basketball, and idolising Kobe in different aspects.“Firstly, it was a shock to everyone. I grew up watching those NBA games in the morning and watching what he did on court. But when someone that you have looked up to in some ways, passes away like that, it does put things in perspective,” Kohli told interviewers.Advertisement After the unfortunate event, Kohli paid tribute to the Lakers hall of fame on his official Instagram, where he also stated about being a Kobe fan and a regular NBA watcher in his childhood.Since taking the helm of Team India back in 2013, Kohli has been under stress from tough opposition or even a hectic schedule, like he recently complained about the short gap between the Australia ODI series and the recently concluded T20 series against New Zealand. However, the 31 year old continues that Kobe’s incident has made him realise to have a good time instead of getting caught up in the routine stress: “At the end of the day, life can be so fickle. It’s so unpredictable. You realise that what you’re doing at the end of the day is not the most important thing. The most important thing is life itself” he added. Also read-Indian cricket mourns the passing of NBA legend Kobe BryantWatch: Shaquille O’Neal breaks down in tears recollecting his favourite Kobe Bryant moments Advertisementlast_img read more

admin no comments

first_imgBengaluru, April 11 (PTI) Indias chief coach Roelant Oltmans today said the upcoming Sultan Azlan Shah Cup mens hockey tournament will be a platform for the team to test its new methods ahead of this years big ticket events. Oltmans said India will be using the Azlan Shah Cup in Ipoh, Malaysia to test its bench strength and style of play ahead of this years important tournaments like the Hockey World League (HWL) Semi-Final in London, HWL Final in Bhubaneswar and Asia Cup in Dhaka. “This (Azlan Shah Cup) is not the most important tournaments for us. The most important thing for us in this tournament will be to showcase (our potential). We are trying to introduce a new style of play before we embark on big tournaments, including the Hockey World League and Asia Cup,” the Dutchman told reporters after announcing the squad at the Sports Authority of India here today. India today named an experimental 18-member squad for the Azlan Shah Cup to be held in Ipoh from April 27 to May 6. The squad to be led by ace goalkeeper PR Sreejesh includes six players from last years Junior World Cup-winning side out of which four will make their senior debut in Azlan Shah Cup. Defender Gurinder Singh, midfielders Sumit and Manpreet will make their senior debut in the tournament, while dragflicker Harmanpreet Singh, Harjeet Singh and Mandeep Singh were other members of the World Cup-winning junior team who have already played for the senior side. Goalkeeper Suraj Karkera, who represented the junior side at the England Tour, EurAsia Cup 2016 and four-nation tournament in Valencia last year, is another player who will make his senior debut in Azlan Shah Cup. Oltmans said India will focus more on its forwar?dline in the Azlan Shah Cup. “We are practising very hard. We want to score more and more goals. Winning a medal for the country is all about scoring goals and to execute this plan we need more goal- scoring players like Affan Yousuf,” he said. Asked, who he considers to be the underdogs in the tournament, Oltmans said: “Japan has not played any international matches and it is difficult to know who are the underdogs. Also, there is England who did not have very good outing last year. They will be eager to perform better. So, let us wait and watch.” PTI BDN SSC SSCadvertisementlast_img read more
